Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor, Engineer John Barorot, has officially tendered his resignation, signaling the end of his tenure in the county government. His decision to step down comes after receiving a job offer as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from an unnamed multinational corporation.
Philip Kipng'etich Muigei, the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker, confirmed the resignation. He indicated that Barorot decided to leave his government role following the significant opportunity presented by the multinational company. "It is true he has resigned. We are going to press in the next few minutes. He has resigned because he has gotten an opportunity as a CEO of a multinational company," stated Muigei.
Leadership Transition Amid Growth in Uasin Gishu
The announcement was made by Barorot during a meeting at a top hotel in Eldoret. Present at the meeting was Uasin Gishu Governor, Dr. Jonathan Bii, who witnessed the announcement. This marked the beginning of a leadership transition within the county as Barorot prepared to exit his role officially.
Barorot's resignation is expected to be formally announced later at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters, signifying a shift in leadership as the county continues its journey of development. Notably, Uasin Gishu has seen significant growth, including the recent city status recognition conferred by the President, a milestone that Barorot played a role in achieving.
Barorot's professional background is noteworthy, having earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic, and Communications Engineering Technology, both from Moi University. His expertise in engineering and strategic management has greatly contributed to the county's development projects during his tenure.
As the county government prepares for this significant change, attention is likely to shift toward the appointment process for a new Deputy Governor. The primary focus will be on ensuring that ongoing projects and governance initiatives continue seamlessly under new leadership.
Barorot's departure adds to the recent trend of shifts in county leadership across Kenya. It follows Kisii Governor Simba Arati's introduction of a new deputy after the impeachment of his former principal assistant, highlighting a period of notable changes in county administrations.
