Kibwezi West MP Mutuse Mwengi has called on fellow Members of Parliament to put the interests of their constituents first as they prepare to vote on the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Addressing the National Assembly on Tuesday during the debate on the motion, Mutuse made a passionate appeal, emphasizing that the well-being of the public should guide their decision.
Mutuse stressed that voting to impeach Gachagua would align with the broader interests of the Kenyan people. He assured his colleagues that he would stand by their decision and vigorously defend the case at the Senate if the motion is passed. “As you rise to vote, please have the best interest of your people at heart. I urge you, as one of your colleagues, when this motion is finally put to vote, please vote to impeach Rigathi Gachagua," he said.

He promised to provide a robust defense of the impeachment, asserting that the Senate would uphold the National Assembly’s decision. “In the event you vote for this motion, I will also persuasively defend it before the Senate, and I'm sure the Senate will also uphold it. Kenya will have a better Deputy President who views the country as a whole," Mutuse remarked.
The motion against Gachagua lists 11 charges, including allegations of constitutional violations, corruption, and misconduct. According to Mutuse, the Deputy President's actions have undermined public trust and good governance, making him unfit for the role.
