In a turn of events that could make even the toughest watchdogs raise an eyebrow, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula finds himself in a legal doghouse. Wetangula has been sued for allegedly failing to cough up Ksh. 281,000, a sum owed for two German Shepherd dogs and an impressive assortment of canine-related services.

The lawsuit, filed by a determined dog supplier named Isoka Bethwel in the Small Claims Court, reads like a shopping list for an aspiring dog whisperer. According to court documents, Bethwel claims that Wetangula had a taste for premium pets and placed an order for two male German Shepherds. But the Speaker didn’t stop there – he also requested dog training services, four packs of brave active dog food, and a treasure trove of dog accessories. We’re talking about everything from grooming brushes to dog shampoo, and even a dog nail cutter (because every German Shepherd deserves a manicure, right?).

A Ruff Legal Battle Ahead

While Wetangula did make an initial payment of Ksh. 100,000, it seems he left the remaining Ksh. 248,100 on the leash. Bethwel claims that his attempts to recover the balance were met with a firm "no" from Wetangula, who apparently has bigger bones to pick than paying for his new furry friends.

"I tried reaching out to the Respondent to recover the said balance, but the Respondent rudely and adamantly informed me that he would not pay me the remaining balance," states Bethwel in the court papers, with a tone that suggests he’s more than a little dog-tired of chasing this debt.

Bethwel says the situation has left him barking mad and caused significant psychological distress. He’s now turning to the court to fetch what’s rightfully his – the full payment for the dogs, their training, and the deluxe dog care kit that would make any pet owner green with envy.

Wetangula, who is usually barking orders in Parliament, has yet to respond publicly to the allegations. But as this legal saga unfolds, Kenyans will be watching closely to see if the Speaker can dig himself out of this financial kennel or if he’ll be forced to pay up for his prized pups.
