President Ruto's disclosure of his Plan to clean up Nairobi River. President has laid out a plan to the Nairobi residents of ensuring Nairobi River is restored to its former glorious state. He pointed out this while attending the Nairobi River Regeneration Project in Korogocho. In the event graced by senior officials from the Environmental department and other leaders, he gave the assurance that this project will be expedited and done with all regards of the law.
In his speech, he pointed out that the plan is set to kick-off on the 1st of October. The plan is to divide the project into different stages with each step featuring different people. "The whole section along Nairobi River is going to be divided and we are going to make sure that there will be people in every stage," President Ruto stated.
Youth to be in the forefront of the project.
President Ruto in his speech insisted that the youth will benefit the most from the project. He said that up to 20,000 young people from Nairobi and beyond will be hired to work in the restoration process. "Our Youth have the opportunity of improving our environment," Ruto says.
Nairobi River is expected to be just the beginning of a project that will finally stretch to Mombasa, Eldoret, Nakuru and Kisumu. The total number of those employed in the whole process is expected to go beyond 40,000 according to the president.
